Farewell Blogger

This will be my last post from Blogger. It's not that I don't like Blogger anymore, but their vision and mine have drifted in opposite directions. The thing that really attracted me to Blogger in the beginning was the ability (through FTP) to host all the files in my own webspace - as an integrated part of my larger website. Blogger will soon be dropping support for this feature. They have come up with some good alternatives, with some fascinating new gadgets, but it's just not what I need.

I wrote my first post on this blog on the 18th of May 2004. Prior to that, I had used blogger for another site. So, it has been a long ride, and it is with nostalgia and a little sadness that I say "Farewell Blogger".

"The Collings Zone" will continue at the same address, just hosted by different software.
