Twenty Years After 'Encounter at Farpoint'
The universe has changed. Twenty years ago, it was a time of relative peace and stability in the galaxy. The Federation had achieved peace with the Klingons, the Romulans had not been heard from in decades. The greatest threat to Starfleet was the Ferengi. Starships were large and luxurious. They housed families and were designed primarily for long-term scientific and exploratory missions.
Since then the the Alpha quadrant has been through Dominion War, renewed conflict with the Klingons, Borg invasions and 'The Shinzon Incident'. Now, after the dust has settled, the peace has returned. The Klingons are allied and re-building their empire after prolonged war. The Federation is enjoying the greatest level of peace with the Romulans since they first met. The Dominion has been thrust back into the Gamma Quadrant. The Cardassians have little left of their empire and even the Borg have been dealt a crippling blow by the Starship Voyager.
Starfleet is once again turning its focus onto exploration and peaceful pursuits. Families are once again making their way onto Starships, however, this peace is different. The universe has been forever changed by the war and although things are calm at the moment, Stafleet will remain forever vigilent.
Ushering in a new era of peace, the Romulans have allowed the USS Magellan to cross into a previously inaccessable realm of the Beta quadrant. Once again Starfleet is going boldly, where no one has gone before.
